Welcome to Mindful Eating, Course 5 of Timeless You. Here, you'll discover why simple, delicious food is crucial for nourishing your body and mind. You'll also learn how to incorporate healthy meals into your daily routine so you can maximize your body's potential.

Let's get started!

Eating is more than sustenance. It is vitality. It is joy. It is togetherness.

Sadly, in today's culture, we have developed an unhealthy relationship with food. We rush through meals, distracted by busy schedules and ever-present technology. We don't pay attention to what we are putting in our bodies, and those choices are reflected in our health. Consider the following:

  • Four in 10 Baby Boomers are considered obese.
  • About 16 percent of Boomers suffer from diabetes.
  • Boomers have higher cholesterol levels and blood pressure than our parents' generation.

The patterns are cyclical. When we eat, it generates feel-good endorphins in the body, creating a temporary sense of well-being and comfort. This is why many of us hide emotional pain with food. We then become angry with ourselves for not having the discipline to curb our eating, which leads to further emotional pain and more binging.

Many of us try to change our eating habits, but we don't always make healthy choices—it is easy to choose fast food over healthy food, or become overwhelmed by conflicting information about nutrition and fad diets.

In this course, you will learn what healthy eating is all about, and how it can impact aging. You'll learn about the most beneficial tastes and foods for your body, and how to fit them into your daily meals.
