Say Goodbye to Fight-or-Flight Mode

Allow about 25 minutes to complete all of Step 1.

Welcome to The Mind-Body Connection, Course 4 of Timeless You, where you’ll learn how your brain influences your body, and vice versa. The breathing techniques, simple yoga moves, and guided meditations within this course will help you erase stress, sleep better, and feel younger.

Let's get started!

Your mind and body are interconnected. Essentially, your body is a collection of molecules, and your mind is a collection of thoughts. Every thought you have directly influences your body's molecules, and a physical reaction takes place. Stagnation in the mind-body connection results in aging and illness. Enlivening the mind-body connection leads to healing and the reversal of aging.

Put another way: recognizing and strengthening the link between thoughts and their physical effects can heal your body and reverse aging.

Step one in this process is conscious breathing, which calms your mind and body, fostering creativity and renewal. Of course, life is hectic and this serene state is difficult to achieve. In fact, most of the time, we are in fight-or-flight mode.

The fight-or-flight response occurs when we feel threatened in any way, whether by aging, physical harm, or stress, which is most often the culprit. Often, fight-or-flight alters our bodies negatively, but we ignore these subtle signals until they become health crises. Prolonged stress can make us sick and can accelerate aging. Over time, the stress response can cause heart disease, ulcers, autoimmune diseases, cancer, depression, and more.

Here are some ways fight-or-flight affects our physiology.
